The African

The African

The African does not wish for specialty,

The African wishes just for entitled dignity,

We have had slavery then oppression and the list goes on,

But The African wishes to commence, and on their pedestal, leave the foes on,

Commencement is wished, Amendment is missed,

The African is sick of preconceptions, pity and is p***d!

A wish to now be known as an unnoticed part of community,

You’ve had your Voyeurism! Thus, colonialism has provided immunity,

The African wants no longer this title,

They are the same, just darker and wish to end the cycle,

Let us now then leave this mentality behind,

The African can and will show correlative power of mind,

They do the same and have the same,

Just variations in technique and in name,

They were never taught Art,

Hence inspiration directs that, which they carve,

Music is naturally created with every day finds,

Fruits for example are dried out to contribute to euphonious chimes,

African nature has provided individualistic living,

African nurture has coincided with an optimistic giving.

African contributed to all we have and know,

Without it, there would not be half of what there is to sow,

British, Spanish, French and Italian empires have all prospered,

While Post colonial Africa still needs to be fostered,

Thus, is it wrong for one to wish to shed the separation?

Go on an in themselves find personal alleviation,

Africa is the motherland for all it has bore,

Therefore respect its offspring, and let them spread wings and soar,
